“Death! Dishonour! Judgement! Punishment!” they call in time to the stamp of their weary feet. The mourning party marches slower than they would on parade as a sign of respect to the daimyo that the reliquist carries on his incense-smoke-shrouded back; the remains of the leader of the Takashi clan, wrapped in silk, and prayer beads and scrolls that highlight his many deeds of bushido. Alas, he is no more, and someone has to bear the cost of the Takashi clan's wrath; they desperately need someone to blame, and they have found it in these four men.

Her true affiliation is now revealed, an agent of the Kage Kaze Zoku right in the heart of the Prefecture her true mission unclear, but it only goes to show the ninja can infiltrate anywhere. A ghost and skilled assassin, almost impossible to pin down in melee she is as elusive as the morning fog, as deadly as the Takifugi, her enemies can never know when or where she will strike. The danger only increased further as part of a Shadow Wind death squad.

Kima’s time is almost up. Worms in the Shadow Wind Clan are only permitted until they make a challenge to become a Shadow Crow. Kima has less than a year left or she will become a servant, only fit to clean up after the clan, cook their meals and never carry a weapon again.

No Worm wants to see this fate so Kima has a plan but knowing her time is near, she is watched like a hawk by any of her potential targets.

Kima has mastered the Blowgun, a rare weapon, even in the Shadow Clans. While silent and a great vector for poison, even the lightest armour can make its thin darts useless so choosing the right target is everything.

As with the other three worm characters, it will often be the case that choosing the right Kohai Ki Feat will be the key to making this profile work. Her Blow Gun is a niche tool, which is spectacular against some targets but she is quite capable with her sword and the excellent Sweep ability.

Mio is obsessed with finding beauty. Of course her twisted nature means that what she finds beautiful is often repulsive to most normal people. She can stare endlessly at a tormented kami or a tortured human. She spends long hours making complex and elaborate webs, so much so that sometimes she seems like a Betana.

Mio has decent Melee ability with three Melee Pool and poison. Of course the ubiquitous Strong trait does a lot of work for the Kumo. But with her Scuttle and Agility Ki Feats, she should be a terror when it comes to performing Scenario Actions. She can get where she needs to be and isn’t easy to remove while she’s there doing her job.

It is said that shisai are aligned with a kami’s purpose and that is how the kami grant them power. The opposite is said of shugenja, that they take the power and use it for their own ends with no regard for cosmic balance. The shisai of Orochi are certainly faithful to the serpent kami and work to serve Orochi’s will. The shugenja may take Orochi’s power for their own, but this does not seem to displease Orochi in the slightest. Perhaps such selfish acts are aligned with Orochi after all.

Nanako has been faithful to Orochi from childhood, and she has watched as the Ito came, seizing their place at the head of Orochi’s temple. This rankles her, for she has had to claw her way to power, fighting for every scrap. For some outsiders to come and simply slide into Orochi’s favour?

That would not do for Nanako and she has redoubled her efforts, taking from Orochi what the great kami would not gift her. It was through her efforts that the abominations were created, by infusing others with undeserved power stolen from the great kami.

Some say that for her efforts, Orochi has seen fit to reward Nanako. Now a great guardian serpent ensures that no others will interfere with her work. Others whisper that her serpent is, in fact, an old rival that she has inflicted with her ministrations.

One of the few Shiho who survived the massacre of their clan, Zanji took the youngest children, too young to fight and defended them as they fled into the wilderness.

One of the harshest taskmasters when training the new generation, few of the young samurai enjoyed learning with Zanji, but a nod or rare smile from him causes them to redouble their efforts and engage with all the more ferocity. Zanji’s skill has been eroded by years of sleeping rough in the rain and lack of proper nutrition but he still has skills that would make blademasters weep at the artistry of his counterstrokes.

The Virtue system for Shiho is largely built around the old survivors of the Battle of Sagoya. Some have the Virtue trait, others will have new Virtue effects. These should allow for many combinations of buffs for the cheap Shiho samurai.

Zanji also has a new mechanic that all the Old samurai will come with, he allows for a new option on the Guerilla Warfare theme, again giving more options and making the Shiho even more unpredictable.

Like many of the Silvermoons street enforcers, Zhiv learned to fight on the streets. Only those who thrive there are invited to join the ranks of the Shatei. Zhiv has learned to overpower lesser fighters or those not accustomed to combat but against trained fighters, his inadequacies can become apparent. Luckily, Zhiv can take a punch as well as anyone and he really takes advantage when he gets an opponent to the ground.

Like many of the newer Shatei, Zhiv asks the opponent if they can match his fighting style. Some may struggle to find the resources to Boost, or simply not have the option, in which case they fall to Zhiv's ability. But trained Monks or Samurai will easily counter his test and often return more than he can handle. Using him against the correct enemy model is key.

needs a steady supply. Now, the Council of Shadows has directed Ka-Feng to the surface world, allowing him to harvest for his garden in exchange for accomplishing their goals.

This legendary creature combines flesh and sky fire, waiting patiently before striking with lightning-quick reflexes and a terrifying bite. As a denizen of the deep, none are safe when it is near. These creatures can only venture into land when the sea comes with the Jung; otherwise, Ryujin lets them shock sailors from beneath while Raijin and Fujin make lightning above.

If a member of the Imperial Family hadn't visited her camp, Zhongwei might have remained a highly competent but overlooked gunso in the Golden Legion. The Emperor’s cousin, the Imperial Prince, who had received orders to inspect the troops, visited her camp. However, the enemy of the West learned of this and launched a mission to assassinate or capture the Prince.

Though they only reached the outskirts of the camp and never got close to their target, the Prince’s daughter was walking near the perimeter, collecting wildflowers, becoming the focus of the thwarted attack. Over a dozen enemy warriors close d in on the young girl, and when the others finally sprang into action, they found Zhongwei pierced by arrows shielding the young girl. Zhongwei's selfless actions earned her much praise and led to her being taken to the capital to convalesce.

While there, the emperor, thankful for her bravery in saving a favoured niece, bestowed much praise, declaring her under his power alone. The exact meaning of this remains unclear. Perhaps it was a reward to shield her from lesser nobles' interferences? Or maybe he in tended a commission in the Golden Sentinels? All that is known is that the Imperial scribe wrote beside her name, “A rank second only to the Emperor." High praise indeed, regardless of the meaning.

Of the Suzume warriors the fast and most athletic are chosen for the Blue Gale, an elite scouting force. Skilled in watching without being seen, striking and fading away, with blade or bow they are effective fighters adding even greater tactical options to the already mobile Tengu Warbands.

The Risen are easy to ignore, slow, brainless and weak. But soldiers across the Jwar Isles are realising you ignore them at your peril. Sheer numbers allow them to swarm opponents; together they can bog a far superior warrior down. It is most disheartening as well as exhausting to strike an opponent the killing blow only to see them rise again. A true tool of Yurei, those that wield The Risen pose a new threat to life in Jwar.

The enormous Fu Dogs have traditionally protected the Temple, but Byiba is from a stock bred high atop the mountains, where they protect the villagers' flocks from wolves and bears. Just like novice monks, they learn from their masters. Not only do they protect the physical, but they can guard against the spiritual, chasing ghosts and marauding kami.

They work silently but emit a low-pitched bark when danger approaches, alerting those inside the temple that something is afoot. Byiba has become a close companion to a homesick unsui from the local temple, spending most days trotting behind him. While Byiba is fearsome and a danger to those he does not know, he loves to play fetch, likes being taken on long walks and can often be found around the table waiting for scraps. He is as part of the temple as those who dwell within it.

A stunning beauty with bold white hair and features that an artist could have carved from ice, Machiko is the envy of many of her peers. Her mastery of the Hoshi’s inheritance allows her to cast deadly icicles that can penetrate even the most robust samurai armour.

She can deny her enemies of defence and cover while opening up new lines of attack for her companions. Not only does this model offer a ranged attack and superior terrain destruction ability, but she also brings Blizzard, which allows you to recruit the Reflection Kami and provides a benefit for all other shugenja, should you wish to play a more Hoshi leaning list.

The Ito koryu teaches a speed-based style and that many swift attacks are superior to a single strike. Yuno has embraced this philosophy and trained herself to leap into the fray better, striking at as many opponents as possible. This willingness to put herself into the thick of combat has drawn the attention of Ito Takuya, and the daimyo has appointed her to keep a watchful eye on the machinations of his eldest son.
